Elton John



Sir Elton John received £1 million after The Sun newspaper claimed he had sex with underage rentboys.

Sir Elton John was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight in 1947.

Aged eleven, he won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music in London.



In 1969 Elton came up with 'Your Song', which climbed the American and UK charts.

In 1976 Elton explained that he was bisexual.

Reportedly, Elton became addicted to cocaine and alcohol in the mid-1970s.

In 1984, Elton married Renate Blauel. They were married for four years.



In the mid-1980s, Elton became a close friend of Ryan White, a teenage hemophiliac who contracted AIDS through a blood transfusion.

When Ryan White died in 1990, Elton dedicated 'Candle in the Wind' to Ryan.

Elton and Bernie Taupin had originally written 'Candle in the Wind' as an elegy for Marilyn Monroe.

In the 1990s, Elton told the world about his relationship with David Furnish, his companion and partner.



In 1997, Elton performed 'Candle in the Wind' at Princess Diana's funeral in Westminster Abbey.

In 1998 , Elton became Sir Elton.

In 2005, Elton married David Furnish.
